101 Loves of My Life

Here's a truly fun exercise to get you writing. On a sheet of paper write out 101 things, people, etc. that you love or enjoy.

Some examples of items you may want to include are:
* the members of your family
* friends
* your pets
* a blank notebook/journal
* the trees when the leaves are changing colors
* when I wake up on a snowy morning and find schools closed
* devils food cake with cream white icing
* etc.

Get creative! It doesn't have to be 101 thing you love, but could be 101 things you want to do before your die. Another option is 101 places you want to visit.

Have fun with this one. I've made a scrapbook page showing my 101 Loves of My Life. See the photo below.

Feel free to share your list.

What is Your Favorite Holiday Movie

What is your favorite holiday movie?

When you were younger, or even now, did you watch the classic holiday movies on television? What about the cartoons?

Here is a list of all the Christmas movies/cartoons I can think of. Have you watched them? Are they your faves? Am I missing any?

White Christmas
Miracle on 34th St.
The Santa Clause, 2 & 3
Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer
Rudolph's Shiny New Year
Frosty the Snowman
The Year Without a Santa Claus
The Little Drummer Boy
A Christmas Carol
Elf
A Charlie Brown Christmas
A Christmas Story
The Polar Express
Jingle All The Way

I love almost all Christmas movies and would watch them year round. However, my favorite movie is Elf, because I love Buddy the Elf. He's hilarious! My favorite Christmas cartoon is definitely A Year Without a Santa Claus with the Heat Miser and Cold Miser.

Please feel free to add any comments or movies that I missed. Thanks and enjoy :)

Rain Rain Go Away

Rain, Rain, Go Away

It's a rainy day, cold and dreary!

Do you curl up with a good book?
Watch your favorite movie (an oldie, a romantic comedy, or one to scare your pants off)?
Are you more likely to sleep all day?
Are you one of those who goes to the mall to window shop just to get out of the house?

Have fun writing!

Kids Table vs. Adult Table - Where Do I Fit?

It seems like all of us at one time or another find ourselves trying to figure out where we fit in. It seems like family get-togethers are the perfect time to consider this dilemma.

Do you fit in with the kids, the grown-ups, your married friends, your single friends, or are you still unsure? Are you still stuck sitting at the kids table?

Are all your friends getting married? Are they having kids? Or are you the only one with kids and your friends are still childless?

It can be hard when your friends and family are at different stages of life. It can be harder to relate to each other. Different things are going on in your lives.

So at this moment in time ask yourself -- where do you fit in?

Don't Get Caught!

Have you ever stole something?
I bet you have.

Here are some things that are commonly stolen in the world today. Have you taken any?

Time
Were you paid to work and played on the internet? Talked on a personal call at work?

Money
Ever given the wrong change? Not charged for an item you received?

Office Supplies
Walked out of the office with pens, pencils, paper clips, paper?
Ever run copies of your own personal stuff on the business's copier?

Misc. Stuff
Have you ever been given too much of something - an extra order of fries?
What about items you forgot to pay for under your shopping cart?

Think about it - you probably have stolen something in your life. Hopefully it wasn't something really illegal.

To Dye or Not to Dye

Two questions to consider.

1. Have you or will you ever dye your hair when you start seeing gray?

2. For you guys - would you ever sport the comb-over?

Some people will start coloring/dyeing their hair at the first sign of gray. Are you going to be a blond or blue at age 75? Whether you never color your hair, and dye it every week both are acceptable decisions.

Just in case you don't know what a comb-over is - here's my definition. When a man starts losing hair on the top of his head a few men try to comb longer strands from the sides over the top. It is not attractive on any man.

Have fun with this one :)

Most Influential Person in Your Life

Who was the most influential person in your life?

Who encouraged you the most? Who inspired you the most?

Was it your mom or dad, a grandparent, a teacher or a college professor? Maybe a coach or family friend? Perhaps it was someone you never met like a motivational speaker or a person on television?

Unfortunately, the most influential person in your life could have done something terrible to you. They could have teased you when you were younger, or treated you bad.

Write about all the great things that have happened because of this person. Did they give you extra attention and encouragement? Did they teach you a skill? Sometimes the most influential people are just those who listened to your thoughts/views and are supportive of your dreams.

Get writing and enjoy :)

Games Played on Car Rides

Today's writing prompt is car ride games.

What is your favorite games played during car rides?
Here are a couple games commonly played on car rides:

* I Spy - find certain colors, objects, shapes, etc.
* ABC - find each letter of the letter on signs, license plates, etc in alphabetical order.
* License Plate games - try to find all 50 states or create bingo sheets
* Zip Zip - find motorcycles and the first person to say "Zip Zip" gets the point. Most points win.
* Punch Buggie - find Voltswagon Beetles and the first person to say "Punch Buggie" gets the point. Most points win.

My father would give $.10 or $.25 to the first person to find a certain landmark. Some examples would be to find a horse on the roof, a giant statue, or an ironing board shaped bridge.

Do you have any games you remember playing a child? Have you made up any games for your children to play to keep them occupied during those long car rides?

Have fun writing!

Spotted in Traffic

There you are driving down the road, only to have the cars slow to a crawl. While bored waiting for the traffic to pick up again what do you see???

What is the funniest, strangest, scariest thing you've ever seen while stuck in traffic?

Maybe you've seen...

...a person dressed as a gorilla?
...a man wearing only his boxer shorts?
...a person holding a gun?
...a kid mooning everyone?

Have fun describing the entire situation. Try to remember where it happened, what time of day it was, who was with you in the vehicle, and where you were coming from or going to.

Enjoy :)

Fave Summer Food

Today I'd like to suggest you write about your favorite summer food. Which foods remind you of summer or summer vacation? What about cook outs or picnics?

Do you enjoy have hot dogs right off the grill? What about a snow cone from the ice cream truck? Maybe it's your Great Aunt's macaroni salad -- the one she always brings to cook outs? What about those little sandwiches you mom used to make for you to eat on picnics?

Being from Maryland, one thing that always reminds me of summer is steamed crabs. My family could sit for hours picking the crabs and eating them. Some of the adults would have them with a can of beer while the kids got to drink soda or lemonade. They would almost never fill you up, but they tasted incredible.

Another food that always reminds me of summer is frozen juice pops. I'm referring to the long tubes of frozen juice. My mom would cut the tops off and let us take them outside.

Brainstorm and then write. Have fun and feel free to post your favorite food below. See you tomorrow.

4th of July Fireworks

Most people have at some point in their lives seen fireworks. Describe your favorite memory of fireworks or perhaps your least favorite memory.

I remember laying on a blanket with my family in the middle of a field on a warm summer evening. We were all staring up at all the fireworks going off over our heads, and holding our ears because of the loud explosions.

Other times, my entire family would set off smaller fireworks in my grandparents back yard. My aunts, uncles, cousins, and neighbors would all be there watching them while eating Popsicles. Everyone saying "Oooh" and "Aaah".

Now, my husband, sets off small, legal fireworks in our backyard each year on the forth of July. It's something my kids have grown to really enjoy and look forward to.

Whether your experiences were good or not so good write them down. Have a wonderful holiday and keep writing!

Drive Thru Fun

Have you ever been to a drive-in movie?

Today you are being asked to write about one of your favorite memories at a drive in or what your feelings are about drive ins. Do you think they better than enclosed movie theaters or not as much fun?

There is something totally fun about piling in the family car to watch a movie outside on a warm summer night. You get to bring your own snacks or buy some at the concession stand. By the way, there are still a bunch of drive ins still being used to show first run movies. Check out the link below for a list of drive in movie theaters in your state.

What would your ideal pet be?

Pets have been shown to lower your blood pressure and reduce stress. What would your ideal pet be? Would it be a cute and cuddly kitten or puppy? Possibly a soft little hamster or even a slinky snake. It may even be a pet rock or a stuffed animal.

A couple important things to consider when thinking about pets would be the amount of time you have available to care for a pet, any allergies, living space to care for the pet and of course money needed for supplies and food.

Have fun thinking about your ideal pet. See you tomorrow. :)
